John is a Director and Co-Founder of Exton Advisors.
He has advised clients on litigation funding for over 10 years, from the early days when the litigation funding started to develop in the UK.
He has advised on a wide range of cases including insolvency, shareholder disputes, securities claims, collective actions, professional negligence, and cases involving multi jurisdictions.
John has a particular expertise in advising on collective actions in the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
Hash has spent most of his career in special situations investing for buyside institutions, as well as other credit market roles and corporate finance.
He has worked for DB Zwirn, Actis Capital, KMPG Corporate Finance, PRICOA Capital and Peregrine Fixed Income.
His skill set includes credit analysis and investments, special situations and distressed debt investments, deal structuring and corporate finance. He has been involved in designing innovative financing structures for special situations investments, primarily in Asia, since 2002.
Hash holds a Bachelors in Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1994) and a Masters in Finance from London Business School (2001).
Tom has nearly a decade of experience advising claimants, law firms, litigation funders and institutional investors on all aspects of litigation finance and litigation risk insurance, and now also leads Exton’s corporate finance business, which advises law firms and other legal services business on launches, capital raising and mergers and acquisitions.
Tom is consistently ranked in all the leading directories, including as a thought leader by Whose Who Legal, a Tier 1 individual by Chambers & Partners, and amongst LawDragon’s 100 global leaders in litigation finance. In addition, Tom is a published author on litigation finance and speaks regularly at conferences and other events.
Lucy has spent her entire career in the legal market, formerly as a private equity transactional lawyer and more recently has held senior strategy roles within the sector, working primarily with corporate legal departments.
Most recently, she led on European Corporate strategy at a large litigation funder.
Her skill set spans disputes finance, including transactional and strategic advice acting as a consultant to law firms and businesses to maximise opportunity from their litigation assets, including single claim financing, portfolio financing as well as monetisations.
Matthew is an English law qualified, former private practice disputes lawyer with a wealth of experience in litigation funding.
Matthew’s legal career began in 2015 at a global business law firm where he focussed on complex, high value international dispute resolution. Since his move into litigation finance in 2020, Matthew has advised a variety of claimants, law firms and investors on a range of issues in the litigation finance and legal risk insurance markets in relation to both capital raising transactions and discrete advisory mandates.
Matthew’s skill set includes legal and financial due diligence, deal structuring, commercial negotiations and price modelling. Matt also has experience with law firm portfolio structures and the working dynamics that can arise between law firms, funders and claimants.

Timothy Mayer is a Director at Exton Advisors.
He was called to the Bar in 1997 and has over sixteen years’ experience in the disputes funding market at some of the leading global disputes funders, where he managed USD$ multi-million investments across a broad range of disputes, with particular focus on international arbitration.
Tim has been recognised in all the industry guides, including the Chambers and Partners Litigation Support Guide for Litigation Funding (2020 -2024), the Lawdragon 100 Global Leaders in Litigation Finance Guide (since 2020), and as a Third-Party Funding Thought Leader (Lexology Index).
He was a member of the joint International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and Queen Mary University Third Party Funding Task Force. ICCA is a worldwide NGO working to improve the processes of arbitration, conciliation and other forms of dispute resolution. He also sat on the International Litigation Finance Association Working Group, where he contributed to its submissions on the UNCITRAL Working Group III Third Party Funding Reform Proposals in 2021.

John has spent most of his career working in financial services at Banks, Hedge funds and boutique advisory firms, as well as working with some FinTechs.
Amongst others, he has worked with BNP Paribas, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Rockport Capital, North Sea Capital and Evolution Securities. His skill set spans Equity, Fixed Income and Structured Credit, where he has built systematic, quant trading platforms utilising machine learning, various structured credit platforms such as SIVs and Conduits, structured synthetic and cashflow CDOs, through to joint-lead on some of the largest retail bond issues in the UK.
John holds a degree in Computer Science and Maths from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Manchester and an MBA from London Business School.
John co-founded Hambleden Capital in 2019 and as a fellow Managing Partner is responsible for running all aspects of the family office with Nima. John has over 20 years of investment experience in multiple industries and at all stages of a company’s lifecycle. When not working or enjoying time with his family, he enjoys golf and wine.
Paul is an experienced Board Advisor, Non-Executive Director and Executive Coach, with more than 15 years’ experience of senior non-executive and executive leadership. He coaches, mentors and advises leadership teams, enabling them to achieve personal and business growth.
Paul has over 30 years’ experience of the legal services market, including as CEO / Managing Partner of Addleshaw Goddard LLP and as the Executive Leadership Partner for EY Law, the disruptive, challenger, fast-growth legal business of EY.
Over the course of his career, Paul has been trusted advisor to 100+ Boards and founders/business owners.
An LSE graduate, Nima worked in the City of London as a trader for eight years. After deciding he was ready for a wider role, he joined the family office and subsequently set-up Hambleden Capital Partners, a London-based investment firm specialising in backing entrepreneurs who are dedicated to creating meaningful and prosperous businesses. Hambleden Capital was born from the strong family heritage and thriving businesses of the Sarikhani family. The company take pride in supporting people and management teams just as much as the great ideas they bring, tying in with the Sarikhani family’s values of integrity and respect.
In addition to working closely with entrepreneurs, Nima enjoys taking time to travel the world and photograph the richness of the wildlife it contains. At home he loves spending time with his boys.
